WHAT DOES THIS PRIVACY POLICY COVER?

This Privacy Policy covers YouReport treatment of personally identifiable information ("Personal Information") that YouReport gathers when you sign up to YouReport and accept YouReport terms and conditions.

WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION DOES YOUREPORT COLLECT?

We receive and store any information you enter on our Website or provide to us in any other way such as Twitter or Facebook sign in. The types of Personal Information collected include, full name (optional), alias, email address, IP address, browser information, county, country and password. You can choose not to provide us with certain information such as name, we can still contact you by alias and email address submitted.

WHY DO WE COLLECT PERSONAL INFORMATION?

The Personal Information you provide is used to email winning reporters, finalists and also to email the YouReport database about any website updates or about past winning YouReporters. We also hope to have YouReport events once we are up and running.

Personal Information Collected Automatically:
  • We receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with YouReport or YouReport email. YouReport automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser including your IP address, cookie information, the page you requested, and the media you have consumed (e.g., viewed, played, downloaded, uploaded, and shared).
  • Generally, YouReport automatically collects usage information, such as the numbers and frequency of visitors to our Website and its components; we use Google Analytics to record such traffic. This data enables us to figure out how often customers use parts of the Website or services so that we can make the Website appealing to as many customers as possible, and improve those services. For example if some part is getting used very rarely we may remove it.

Communications:

When you sign up to YouReport you will receive a confirmation email to confirm your registration. After that you will receive a weekly email to let you know who won the weekly prize. The 4 finalists every week on YouReport will receive an email notifying them that they are in the final 4 to be judged by a Newstalk panel of judges. You can of course unsubscribe from the weekly email. However, you cannot unsubscribe from some administrative emails, such as notification of being the winner, a finalist or your initial sign up email.

What about Widgets?

Our Website and data collection devices include "Widgets," which are interactive mini-programs that run on YouReport. Personal information, such as your IP address, may be collected through the Widget, which is used for the badges element of the site. Cookies may also be set by the Widget to enable it to function properly and to collect points for badges to be awarded. YouReport Widgets collect the same personal information that may be collected by the Website, as described above.

Widgets are only used for badges and points features. Data is not used in any commercial way as YouReport is a community.

What are Cookies?

We transfer Cookies to your computer's hard drive to enable our systems to recognise your browser and tell us how and when pages in our Website are visited and by how many people.

When you Sign Up or Sign In to our website we save your user session as a cookie to allow you to remain signed in as you browse the site. This cookie is removed when you close your browser or have not been active on the site for more than 2 hours.

We also use them to ascertain winning reports, popular reports and community participation. Most browsers have an option for turning off the cookie feature, which will prevent your browser from accepting new cookies. We strongly recommend that you leave the cookies activated, however, because cookies enable you to be awarded points in the YouReport system and earn badges and hopefully win prizes.

We DO NOT partner with third party advertisers to place or recognize a unique cookie on your browser.

WILL YOUREPORT SHARE ANY OF THE PERSONAL INFORMATION IT RECEIVES?

Quite Simply NO, YouReport is a community site and we intend to keep it that way.

IS PERSONAL INFORMATION ABOUT ME SECURE?

Your YouReport account Personal Information is protected by your password for your privacy and security. You need to prevent unauthorised access to your account and Personal Information by selecting and protecting your password appropriately and limiting access to your computer and browser by signing out after you have finished accessing your account.

On our side we follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personally identifiable information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it.

The security of your personal information is important to us, we will never send YouReport databases by email or any unsecure way.

WHAT CHOICES DO I HAVE?

  • You can choose not to disclose your real name
  • We need an email address, alias and region at the very least to contact winners and finalists

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

YouReport may amend this Privacy Policy if new regulations are enforced. We will notify all YouReport users of any major changes.
