"Warrior" Movie Review

Director and writer Gavin O' Connor must have seen the success and positive reception that came with fighting movies over the past few years.
The fighter, The wrestler and maybe going too far back but the blatant obvious...the Rocky saga, well maybe not 5 and the shocking " Rocky balboa" but don't you see were I am going with this? just a great example of a successful fight movie.
For those who have not heard of Gavin O' Connor his last movie "Pride and Glory" (2008) which starred Edward Norton and our very own Colin Farrell. It got an okay reception...pretty much what I made of it, simply okay!
So "Warrior" starring Joel Edgerton (King Arthur) as Brendan Conlon, a family man with two kids is enjoying life as a school teacher. Brendan who also has a successful past as a former wrestler in the UFC. Brendan soon struggles to make ends meat as he is faced with the possibility of Bankruptcy and the brink of losing the family home.
On the other hand, Brendan's younger brother Tommy (Tom Hardy) is the complete opposite.
Tommy was apparently abandoned by Brendan when he was younger, a decision that comes down to be vital as all does not go well when the brothers finally meet again 12 years later, through their former alcoholic father (Nick Nolte).
The Father in all of this is Paddy Conlon (Nick Nolte), He is portrayed as a depressive character with a boxing past as well as alcoholic problems.
He is deeply Hated by both brothers for his lack of support when they were kids, as well as his no care attitude when his former wife and mother of the family was sick.
They say when family collide its always brutal and in this case? it is. When both brothers hear of an MMA(Mixed Martial Arts) competition offering the biggest purse in the history of the sport to the winner, it is indeed by accident the Conlon brothers apply for the same competition.
Tommy (Hardy), as much as he hates his father, seems destined to have his father Paddy Conlon alongside him.
Tommy definitely gives off a disturbed past we get to know little about, but only that he wants this prize money and will destroy anything in his way even if it means a showdown with his older brother Brendan.
On the other hand, Brendan (Edgerton) is mind set on the prize money but also the safety of his brother as your clearly told who the nice one in the family is......
A hard hitting drama that I wont say packs a punch, I find that very cliche' but is definitely a movie in its own catagorie. Tom Hardy and Joel Egderton were made for the role.
Nick Nolte, who brings his fine acting to the movie and once you hear his voice struggling to get out from the bottom of his throat, you just know something serious is going down!
I think people will compare this movie to "The fighter", I dunno why because that is boxing, a very good boxing movie at that, but this is MMA and there is not many movies right now that are focusing on a sport that is blowing up as fast as mixed Martial Arts is.
In my opinion a great all round movie. Warrior is not just for fight fans (which I think is Men...mostly!) but for everyone who enjoys a good story full of ambition and winning something, even if it means haven to kick your own brothers ass!
So on top of that, lets just say we are very lucky to have "Warrior" and "The Fighter" two Brilliant movies that are hard to fault so lets not compare.
Maybe it could be settled if we can organise a charity fight, Bronson vs the Crack addict that was Christian Bale!? that would be some cage fight!
Okay I dunno if I will do Ratings often but for now people deserve to know that this movie is a
10/10! Go see it.....what? Go! yes now!!
