Fukushima radiation found in CaliforniaMake Comment EagleNews
Small amounts of cesium-137 and cesium-134 were detected in tuna near San Diego in August 2011.“ I wouldn't tell anymore what's not safe to eat. It's become clear that some people feel that any amount of radioactivity, in their minds, is bad and they'd like to avoid it. But compared to what's there naturally… and what's established as safety limits, it's not a large amount at all,â€Daniel Madigan ( Stanford University Marine Station) explained in an interview.
Logan Kock ( V.P. of purchasing for Santa Monica Seafood ) told Adriene Hill ( Marketplace sustainability desk) that there is nothing you need to worry about. “Even for those of you who love your pricey sushi, this news shouldn't put you off. The level of radiation the researchers found in the bluefin tuna is below safe- levels (established by the US government).
